Who We Are
Leon Johnson’s life and career have been shaped by the skilled trades. As a third-generation concrete contractor and founder of Greater Seattle Concrete in 1984, Leon built more than a successful company—he built a legacy rooted in craftsmanship, hard work, and a deep respect for the construction industry. Through decades of hands-on experience in concrete and construction, he developed the technical knowledge, leadership, and determination needed to grow a thriving business while preserving his family’s trade for the next generation.
When Leon married Wendy in 1993, their partnership quickly proved to be about much more than business. Wendy brought a relational and compassionate perspective that strengthened both their company and their vision for the future. Together, they combined industry experience with a heart for service, discovering that their greatest fulfillment came not only from building structures, but from building opportunities for others.
Over the years, their work in construction exposed them to the importance of skilled labor, mentorship, and workforce development. They believe the trades provide life-changing opportunities—offering people practical skills, meaningful careers, and the ability to provide for their families. This belief continues to shape their passion for supporting programs that encourage trade education, apprenticeships, and hands-on learning.
In 2011, the Johnson family embarked on a transformative month-long mission trip to Malawi, Africa. Witnessing both the challenges and resilience of the communities there left a profound impression on Leon and Wendy, leading them to return again in 2016. These experiences strengthened their desire to serve others not only through ministry and humanitarian outreach, but also by supporting practical solutions such as trade training, construction support, and community development.
From these experiences, the vision for the GSC Legacy Foundation was born. The foundation seeks to combine faith, service, and the skilled trades to create opportunities that uplift individuals and communities—both locally and around the world. Whether through humanitarian aid, ministry partnerships, educational support, or initiatives that encourage careers in the trades, the goal remains the same: to invest in people and help build stronger futures.
Leon and Wendy believe the talents and opportunities God has given them are meant to be shared. By serving others and empowering the next generation with both faith and practical skills, they hope to leave a lasting legacy of hope, generosity, and hard work.
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
